In August, Cavalcante pleaded guilty to escape and was sentenced to serve 15 to 30 years in addition to his life sentence without parole.

Bivens said it’s not yet determined whether Cavalcante will be facing further charges for the escape, but he will remain in state prison to serve out his life sentence.
