The 131st Bomb Wing traces its roots to the 110th Observation Squadron, which was established in St. Louis June 23, 1923. Based in St. Louis for most of its history, the wing has operated in a variety of roles, including reconnaissance, air combat and strike.

Priorities: Provide combat ready Airmen to execute integrated federal and state missions. Develop diverse Guardsmen, ensuring care and connectedness across the team. Recruit and retain talent, maximize available resources. Prepare the wing for future B-21, command and control, cyber, and intelligence multi-domain missions.

The roots of the Missouri Air National Guard and the 131st Bomb Wing trace back to the 110th Observation Squadron, organized June 23, 1923 by Major Bill Robertson and his brothers, Lieutenants Frank and Dan Robertson, owners of the Robertson Aircraft Company.

The 131st Bomb Wing successfully passed the Initial Nuclear Surety Inspection and achieved full operational capability Aug. 2, 2013. Today, the 131st Bomb Wing serves as the only Air National Guard unit associated with the B-2 Spirit bomber, as well as the only Air National Guard Bomb Wing certified for nuclear operations.

Jun 25, 2013 · After the Korean call-up, the wing was re-designated as the 131st Light Bombardment Wing. The wing entered the "jet age" in the late '50s with the arrival of the Lockheed F-80 "Shooting Star" and the Republic F-84F "Thunderstreak."

The 131 Bomb Wing’s recruiting team has office locations at Whiteman AFB in Knob Noster, Jefferson Barracks ANG Station in St. Louis, and the Armed Forces Career Center in Springfield, Missouri.
