Jan 31, 2024 · Going back to the a:\ entered into the search bar, in following attempts, it actually opened a second file explorer window with the drive and it's contents displayed in a more normal visual presentation identified as "Floppy Disk Drive (A:)". It would appear that the Win11 OS actually learned a bit about the drive after connecting the first time.

Jun 6, 2015 · The floppy drive controller and the drive are then detected and drivers loaded (I have no idea from where) and then the drive works fine. The drivers may be the ones from Windows 7, so if you can find those, you probably can get your floppy drive working again. (Kind of like Viagra for an old computer with a floppy drive.)

However, whenever a disk is inserted, the messages says the disk media is not recognized. It may not be formatted. The disk is formatted and has data on it.
