Mar 22, 2019 · I recently bought my first Impala. It's a true '62 SS, Autumn Gold, with red vinyl interior. After researching, and VIN/trim tag decoding, I've learned I have a complete, original, numbers matching, 327 (250 hp), and a 2 speed powerglide with a column shift. It needs a complete interior & exterior restoration.

See pages 21-23 but on page 24 it shows the 1964 Impala SS model numbers 1347,1367,1447,1467. The seperate model numbers for SS went through 1967. That is why these year cars are harder to fake, you have to commit a fraud to make a fake SS in those years.

The vin won't tell you if it is an SS..the steering wheel should have a script "super sport " on the horn cap, side mldgs have swirls in the taping, and the rear deck lid mldg should have swirls in it also...Look on E-bay at 62 impalas you might get a close up look at one

Apr 4, 2019 · There were 99,311 Impala SS models built in 1962, (15,019 of those cars had a 409 under the hood). 891 was a standard interior color and denotes gold colored vinyl bucket seats. 927 "anniversary gold" was one of fifteen total paint options offered as a standard color in 1962. Nothing special as far as I know.

Aug 22, 2009 · Does any one know the difference between a muncie 4 speed trans and a powerglide. Have a 62 impala SS with a 409 and a turbo 400 trans on it. Like to get the original tans. and shifter for it. Not sure what came with the car. If any one has any info. Like to know

They are crystal clear on my phone, and I did choose the option to resize them for the proper format). Anyway, the VIN is: 21847L152312. May 29, 2017 · 62 impala convertible. Wanted to know about the rear end. I got a hold of a LS1 from a 01-02 camaro ss with low miles. Was curious as to the rear end strength also i would love a posi rear end my current setup is not a P. What would be my best options if anyone happens to know about the rear end on these or my best choices.

May 4, 2015 · Impala SS was a unique model from 1964-1967 meaning that only those years are identifiable by vin, all other years SS was an trim option. You need to to decode the trim style from the trim tag to see if it came with bucket seats originally. I believe in 62 SS was the trim option that included bucket seats, somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Mar 9, 2022 · The highest revving production version (in 1963; the only year of the Z-11 427; no '62) 409 red-lined at 6000 rpm. That was the dual quad, solid lifter, L80, 425 hp version. The single carb, hydraulic lifter L33, 340 hp version red lined at 5200 rpm. There was an L31 that red lined at 5800 rpm.
