Mar 27, 2024 · The BM59's op rod is shorter than the that of the Garand, and the ejection cycle is more violent. What could possible go wrong, besides bent op-rods, or sheared lugs. At a minimum, using the wrong ammo will beat the hell out of your rifle, and combined with 80+ year old parts, will shorten its operational life.

Apr 29, 2014 · The BM59, as conceived, designed, and issued by the Italians in my opinion is the equal of the USGI M14, and more robust than the investment cast receiver M1A's (although I think the forged/cast debate is more relevant to guns destined for the battlefield...modern M1A's will all outlive their owners, or most of them will).

I noted how high it places the scope so a strap-on cheek piece of some sort is needed when the scope is this high.

Jul 24, 2013 · This is a 1987 M1A-A1 Bush Rifle, this is the original configuration as shipped in a BM-59 Style folding stock. Stock is in pristine condition as it has spent more time in storage in the safe than with the action in it. Action was mounted in GI fiberglass for general tp and hunting.

Feb 8, 2021 · 1. Check actual chamber dimensions and compare to ammo being used. Mainly length of brass from base to end of neck. 2. Polish chamber walls to remove any slight imperfection that might restrict extraction. 3. Try different ammo that is known for being within the length of your chamber and is clean and free of corrosion.

Aug 20, 2017 · Just finished machining / converting an M1 drill rifle receiver to BM59 Beretta specs. Its not a bad job but a fair amount of milling on hardened steel which makes for slow progress. In a nut shell ~ Open receiver "legs" up to accept the Beretta box magazine. Angle cut the same legs. Drill a hole thru for the front magazine catch retaining pin.

Feb 24, 2022 · BM59 Ital length barrel and op rod, BM69 drop down gas cylinder, and an un-modified M1 receiver along with the Garand feed system. In other words, an M1 in BM59 length with the drop down gas cylinder and op rod. I was advised that with this set up to use a Wolf tanker length spring and the standard guide rod.

Nov 6, 2021 · I recently got a BM59 parts kit from Numrich. The stock has typical dings and will need a light restoration, but the metal parts are all in excellent condition with basically only storage wear. (Rear handguard looks NOS, but didn’t include in picture). I have a 1943 SA M1 drill-rifle for the donor receiver, but no ITAL barrel for this project.

Sep 20, 2018 · 17 posts · Joined 2017. #20 · Sep 25, 2018 (Edited) Wow, I compared the length of the Schuster M1 Adjustable gas screw to the one in my BM59 folder and it was longer. Felt what I thought was the threads bottoming out before full install, not the case. My mistake, I just installed it and it fits just fine.
