Jul 30, 2003 · Regarding the 16GB RAM, I would go LGA 1366 or newer. If not planning to overclock, I would look at used Windows 7 LGA 1366 Workstations. These can definitely support 16GB and beyond and the processors for these are pretty cheap too (~$20 quad cores are available). Example: LGA 1366:

Mar 26, 2005 · I don't remember the CPU's in question well enough to say, but others have commented that if you moved to the I7 you would also need a discrete graphics card. That's a double whammy. If the power supply was already "just enough" not only are you adding a higher wattage CPU, but a graphics card as well.

Also Rocket Lake should have Sunny Cove cores (significant IPC uplift) and PCIe 4.0 (and m.2 that is on top of PCIe 4) and launch some time next year.

Apr 8, 2012 · No, 775 won't fit on 1150. I'm running stock hsf on a 54w i3 and it can get noisy when the cpu is loaded. I don't know how quiet those water coolers are but the zalman cnps8900 cooler i tried on an 88w i7 seems quieter than the stock hsf on the i3.
