Of the captains, Yami likely has the most battle prowess considering his fighting experience. However, in terms of mana pool and magic he is probably on the same level as his other captains. Royalty such as Fuegoreon and Nozel probably lead in raw mana capacity. Jack and Fuegoreon seem to have the most destructive/powerful magic.

They have a "friendly rivalry" (in the anime, the manga never says that), but honestly, it's the kind you might have at the workplace and in the manga they don't really spend any time together at all outside of work.
