Maurizio Cattelan is one of the best-known Italian artists to have emerged internationally in the 1990s. In the spirit of Piero Manzoni, Cattelan produces witty, unorthodox sculptures, actions, gestures, and photo works that are as varied as they are unnerving. He creates works that mock the art system and even the artist himself.

He has spent his life as an artist exploring the complex ways our culture makes symbolic distinctions between fine art works, mass-produced goods, and objects created by nature.

(An idea we were trying to get at) - The sugary sweet mosaic, made of thousands of cereal bits, depicts idea of what a healthily balanced breakfast (democracy) might look like when considering the role that marketing plays in myth building around corporate and political brands.

Although, Kehinde Wiley’s works reference specific paintings by Titian and Tiepolo, he draws from a range of art historical and vernacular styles in his compositions, from the French Rococo to the contemporary urban street. Wiley collapses history and style into a uniquely contemporary vision.
