On-line CERT Classes. Due to COVID-19, the CERT Basic Training (lecture portion) is available on-line. The on-line classes were developed by the University of Utah, in partnership with Utah Division of Emergency Management. You can take the 8-12 hours of online independently, anytime, and at your own pace.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is an all-risk, all-hazard training. This valuable course is designed to help you protect yourself, your family, your neighbors and your neighborhood in an emergency situation.

The Hybrid CERT Training incorporates 12 hours of online independent study followed by 16 hours of in-person skills training, and disaster simulation. The Hybrid CERT Training has been updated for the 2020 CERT Basic Curriculum and is available in English and Spanish.

May 1, 2020 · The course includes three lessons: Introduction to CERT; What CERTs Do; and, Becoming Involved. In Lesson 1, Introduction to CERT, you will learn what a CERT is, the origin of the national CERT program, examples of local CERT volunteer organizations, and the general and national purpose of CERT.

All of the CERT Curriculum is available online, hosted by the California Office of Emergency Management (CalOES) and the California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI). If you missed a class, you can make it up by taking that unit online or by visiting another local CERT class.
