Grand Coulee Dam includes three major hydroelectric power generating plants and a pump generating plant. The facilities provide power generation, irrigation, flood control, stream flow regulation for fish migration, navigation, and recreation.

Built in 1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Candy Point Trail was built to afford a great view of the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam. It’s a challenging hike-over a mile round trip with a 700 foot elevation gain.

Coulee Dam was founded by the U.S Bureau of Reclamation in 1933, to serve as headquarters for construction of the Grand Coulee dam. The Okanogan County portion was known as Mason City, location of the head contractor.
