Jan 17, 2025 · i did find this nice sports steering wheel with an air bag last weekend. The downside was it 1700 miles away. The upside with this particular steering wheel is that it came attached to a 2004 BMW 325i in excellent condition with only 69K miles on it and I got to drive it back 1700 miles to make sure the steering wheel worked. I am driving with a used alcantara steering wheel, which still holds remarkably well. The original one was sent to Dallas Custom Steering Wheel.

Feb 25, 2010 · The E46 Steering Wheel and Slip Ring plug and play design makes the swap over to the X3 Heated Wheel fairly easy. With only a T30 Torx Screw Driver and Slim Ratchet to remove the airbag and a 5/8" socket on a long handle ratchet to remove the wheel you can swap the wheel out with in 30 minutes.

Yesterday I found a couple of websites that offer to re-wrap the steering wheel. I found this to be a good idea, because that way I can get it perforated with m-stitching. Like so:

Feb 19, 2010 · I highly recommend getting a Heated Wheel from either an 2004+ X5 or X3. Older E39 and E38 Steering Wheel button pods use tiny amber orange bulbs for the button's back light instead of the E46's pure amber led back lighting thus a mismatch may possibly occur in your dash if you use an older Wheel w/ button pods.
