Jul 28, 2018 · It is really fun to play. Short-scale basses with maple fingerboards remain somewhat unusual (I'm not sure why that’s the case). I think it’s a really nifty bass. If I could find a Squier Vintage Modified Mustang Bass in sunburst with a maple fingerboard, I would buy it for sure (sorry for the off-topic irrelevancy there).

Aug 24, 2012 · The Squier is a little chunkier around the back, with a flatter fretboard. It also has slightly thicker frets (I believe) and a more matte finish. I have small hands and actually prefer the feel of the Squier. No doubt, the quality of the Fender's parts is a little higher, but the quality of the Squier is also decent.

Sep 23, 2021 · I’ve owned every tier of p-bass Fender has to offer. I’m happy with my Squire. Just be certain the pickups you swap are going to enhance the properties you’re looking to enhance. I have 1/4 pounders in mine and love them but they’re not for everyone. The only other option I’d suggest is buying a newer Squier or Fender, like 2015-2021.

Jun 13, 2020 · the pickup is a musicman style humbucker (non standard shape tho), but with fender style (smaller, raised) pole pieces. active preamp, 3 band eq ( cut and boost by 15db). i tried it without a battery and it works, volume knob works without a battery too so the master volume is passive.

Mar 31, 2013 · With time, patience, luck, and a hundred more dollars you can get a used Japanese Fender P. The best that Fender has to offer, or rather used to offer, in my opinion. If four hundred is the max for your right now, get a used Squier CV, VM, or signature and save yourself $100-$150.
