Fenit is a charming little village, sitting on the northern shore of the inner bay of Tralee. It faces the sun as it looks southward to Sliabh Mish and the Dingle mountains, while it dips it toes into the warm waters of Tralee Bay.

On Thursday, the 14th January 2021, the first Fenit Town Hall meeting took place via Zoom to gauge local interest. Town Hall meetings bring together the community, public representatives, and local government, and the very first meeting did just that.

In 1851 a lighthouse was built on the Little Samphire Island, located a few hundred meters west of Fenit pier. A large bronze sculpture of Saint Brendan was erected in 2004 on Great Samphire Island, the rock around which the harbour was built.

Fenit (also know as Locke’s beach) is a small, sheltered sandy beach, looking south onto Tralee Bay, with excellent views across to the mountainous Dingle Peninsula on the other side. Thanks to its sheltered location and calm waters, the beach is very popular for swimming.
