How do I browse my file system on a mac? - Super User
May 31, 2017 · I am coming from a Windows and Linux background, so I am used to just firing up an explorer window and being able to navigate everything. In mac finder, all I get is a favourites window which has a bunch of stuff that is not my hard drives entire file system, and I have a devices tab that has "remote disk" which is empty.

The Mac way of navigating file is making SOOO much sense than windows way of opening a gazillions of windows and confuse myself... I wonder as a Windows8 user, is there way to make windows folder navigation simulate the same way as Mac folder navigation? Does using Ubuntu will be the best alternative than the hackintosh?

Oct 27, 2019 · The most likely problem here is that the Mac and PC have two different workgroup names. If these names do not match, then the PC will not list the Mac under Network in Explorer. On the Mac, go to System Preferences, Network, Options, WINS. This is most likely blank right now. Change it to "Workgroup".

I use Control-E which is easiest in my opinion to press from Mac keyboard. It acts even better than Windows Explorer, when you customize the sidebar on Finder Window for your most accessed Folders (I suggest hiding the color code balls also). In Finder, make sure you have "View -> Show Toolbar and Show Sidebar" enabled. You are welcome.

its close but the mac osx has an added preview pane. I have tens of thousands of photos to sort through and a columned explorer window has been the best and quickest way so far. I have sort of emulated it by opening several windows in columns - but sifting through so many folders is making the task very tedious.
