Press ^ to get peaking high, then focus using . If you half-press the shutter, you will lose the peaking, but pressing the center button between will bring it right back.

Jun 13, 2008 · It's a shame though because in my simple side by side tests of the D300 w/ Nikon 18-200 VR and the D3 with Tamron 28-300 VC the image quality (color, contrast, sharpness, distortion) all favor the D3 Tamron combination with of course the exception of the focus issues (speed and reliability).
