Our branch had enormous code, so git clone would itself take 15 minutes, at minimum. Here's what I did: One-time manual process: in VSO UI, create a new remote branch say 'emptyBranch' which has zero files (all are deleted). git clone --depth=1 --single-branch --branch emptyBranch <remote> (pretty quick)
