Hail damage on the unibody frame parts like the rear quarter panel or roof is basically unfixable unless you pull the entire car apart. Youll also be looking at worse fuel economy due to the worse aero, especially on a prius that depends on aero.

Or you keep the damaged car, the check is for the value of the vehicle, minus your deductible, minus the "salvage value" (what the company thinks it will sell for at a copart/IAA auction.)

I bought a car from a dealer back in 2020 that had a salvage title because of hail damage. The only thing about a salvage title means you can't have full coverage insurance on it.

In my experience, they discount the price of the damage off the car, so it's not really a good deal because it's still the market value of a car with hail damage and harder to sell, it's always easier for a dealership to sell a car than an individual.
