– Honda’s advanced humanoid robot ASIMO has landed a new role as an actor in a forthcoming science-based TV docu-drama. ASIMO, which has never before appeared in a TV series, will perform with real actors in a program called ‘Update 2056: The World in 50 Years’ on Discovery Channel worldwide in November/December.
ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) is the world’s only bi-pedal humanoid robot capable of climbing and descending stairs, walking forward and backward, turning smoothly without pausing, and maintaining balance while walking on uneven slopes and surfaces.
The small, lightweight robot is designed to operate fluidly in a human environment, and is capable of walking, running, climbing and descending stairs, avoiding objects, and recognizing human faces, among other skills.
