The Avenger Air Defense System, designated AN/TWQ-1 under the Joint Electronics Type Designation System, is an American self-propelled surface-to-air missile system which provides mobile, short-range air defense protection for ground units against cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, low-flying fixed-wing aircraft, and helicopters.

The AN/TWQ-1 Avenger Air Defense Vehicle was initially a private venture by the Boeing Company, although based upon U.S. Military interest and requirements. The base vehicle used for the system was initially the M1037 Shelter Carrier (without winch) and later the M1097 Heavy Hummer Variant (HHV) (possibly the A1 production model).

The gyro-stabilised Avenger turret with Stinger missiles is mounted on a 4×4 HMMWV (high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle), but can also operate in a standalone configuration or mounted on a variety of military vehicles. Avenger has a crew of two – gunner and driver.
