With all the new trail development happening in the canyon, an updated map is exactly what we need, whether we’ve lived here for 30 years or 30 days. Luckily, Friends of Hyalite (FOH) , the nonprofit organization pledged to raise public awareness about Hyalite, as well as raise money for winter road-plowing, is on top of things.

Hyalite Canyon is part of the Custer Gallatin National Forest. It is the most heavily visited Forest Service area in the state of Montana, offering a stunning array of activities for outdoor recreationists.

Hyalite Canyon Recreation Area is the most heavily visited recreation area in Montana with three campgrounds and two day use areas. Langohr Campground along Hyalite Creek provides wildlife viewing and fishing midst towering rocky peaks.

Hyalite Canyon! We have three signature styles of map depending on what you’re looking for: “Minimalist” - Title and topo lines with a very faint road network underneath for reference. Clean, simple, elegant. More of an “art” look than a “map” look.

Hyalite Canyon's ice and mixed climbing routes are set against a backdrop of significant geological activity. The canyon, carved by glacial processes over millennia, features impressive rock formations and steep ice flows.
