Fifteen-acre Lost Lake lies in a forested bowl and is drained by Lost Lake Creek, which flows directly into the Nehalem River. The lake is stocked annually with rainbow trout, so it’s popular with fishermen, but there’s also a trail, narrow, rough, and rooty in parts, that makes the one-mile circuit around the lake.

Lost Lake is a lake in Mount Hood National Forest 10.1 miles (16.2 km) northwest of Mount Hood in Hood River County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is 21.4 miles (34.4 km) southwest of Hood River, a 26.4-mile (42.5 km) drive.

The scenic loop around Lost Lake is perhaps the best family hike for young children in this guide. The route is nearly level, there are numerous places to stop and poke feet or fingers into the lake, and parents will enjoy the classic views of Mount Hood during the final mile.
