Minaret Summit is a mountain pass on Highway 203 in the central Sierra Nevada. [2] The pass, lying on the Madera-Mono County border, is within the Mammoth Ranger District of the Inyo National Forest and located near Devils Postpile National Monument , Mammoth Lakes , and Mammoth Mountain .

There is a fine view of the Minarets from the summit of Mammoth Mountain, a popular ski resort in the Eastern Sierra. They can also be seen (albeit briefly) from US395 while driving between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes. The Minarets are part of the Ritter Range, the remnants of an ancient volcanic massive that predates most of the Sierra granite.

Minaret Summit on CA 203 is an orphaned highway. The state highway actually ends right at the summit, which is on the boundary between Mono and Madera counties. The road continues another 8 miles (13 kilometers) or so until it dead ends at Red’s Meadow Resort and Pack Station.
