Jun 28, 2004 · There's a 240 foot (40 fathom) hole just a bit SE of there, near the Oil Wreck . The Oil Wreck itself lies in 200+ feet of water, well within sight of land. The Oil Wreck lies at 40-12.55n 73-45.60w. The Arundo Wreck , denotes the eastern edge of the hole, east of Shark River inlet. The slope comes up from 120 feet to 90 feet there.

Two different areas. There is a mud hole south of Block and another off of Sandy Hook, NJ. Either are fishable in a 21' on a good day. The mud hole out of NJ is a parking lot on the weekends. If trouble does arise, help will be near.

Just did my first semi off shore (I don't think it's really an off shore location) trip last weekend to the BA Buoy which I believe is the beginning of the mud hole. There is more than mud down there, you also have about 8 hours a day when you can not bring your boat in and out, have you seen the boat in an astronomically low tide yet? That could be another 1 to 3 feet lower, which might tip the boat. Are there any waves or currents at the dock, that could flood the boat?
