The Nyaban Brothers (ニャーバン・ 兄弟 （ ブラザーズ ）, Nyāban Burazāzu?, Meowban Brothers in English versions) are the ship guards of the crew, and consists of the officers Sham and Buchi.

Between this and the fact that this character isn't important other than being Kuro's fodder, I don't see a reason to care for the gender swap. In addition, didn't Oda give this show it's blessings?
