What Exactly is the "Peasant Railgun" in D&D 5e? A deep dive article
The real problem with the peasant railgun is that it relies on allowing RAW to override physics up until the exact moment when it becomes convenient for physics to override RAW. Going off strict RAW? When that javelin gets to the end of the line of 200 peasants, all that happens is the peasant at the end is not holding a javelin.

Apr 28, 2017 · The peasant railgun by RAW doesn't work as a weapon because the item being passed never actually increases its speed (when the last commoner throws it, the attack is resolved as normal for an improvised thrown weapon), but it works wonder as an instantaneous travelling method, provided your commoners are burly enough to lift you or another ...
Why doesnt the "peasant railgun" work? : r/DnD - Reddit
Dec 14, 2022 · The peasant railgun basicly says, that because of the illogical game mechanic, that a ball can be handed between 1000 people in 6 seconds, logic dictates, that the item eccelerates. What this doesn't account for, is for example that the item would technically stop every time it is handed to another person, making the velocity drop to 0.

Jan 8, 2016 · That's how the fabled Peasant Railgun was supposed to work? The whole thing falls apart when the peasant at the front of the line grabs the pole and throws it with an improvised weapon attack roll of 1d20+STR with a damage of 1d4+STR.

Jan 7, 2015 · The peasant railgun isn't even a real thing because it doesn't maintain momentum unless you deliberately tack on an interpretation that isn't supported RAW to make it so. It's great for instantaneous transfer of material, which makes it more of a Peasant RailWAY than anything else, but it shouldn't result in a massive amount of force being ...

Jan 21, 2018 · [Request] The Peasant Railgun I play lots of 5th edition D&D and love finding silly ways others have broken the mechanics as written, and one of these is the Peasant Railgun . First off, a few rules about the game in general: a "round" in D&D is considered what can be done in about six seconds (usually a move and a normal action such as attacking).
[5e] A real peasant rail-gun (no abuse of bonus actions required)
Oct 3, 2014 · The original peasant railgun didn't work by RAW either. You just have to figure out that the object has traveled 10+km in 6 seconds and realize the physical implications. Hell, by RAW, lightning is just a type of magic and current isn't even said to exist. Also, being 'pretty sure it's doable' doesn't make this idea not work any less.

Nov 25, 2023 · This forms a line of peasants 50,000 feet long. The first peasant passes a spear to the second as his action. The 2nd to the 3rd, and so on to the 10,000th, who throws it. The spear has traveled 50,000 feet in 6 seconds and then hits its target with the force of a kinetic strike. Or 1d8 damage, depending on the DM. Peasant Railgun.
