I have reached out to the company and they have told me the supplement can be used for preventative mesasures as opposed to treating a current issue.

Epakitan is a phosphorus binder and contains calcium carbonate/chitosan. It seems as if the latter serves a different purpose than the supplements your cat is on now.

Dec 22, 2014 · I told the vet i had started supplementing his food with a low dosage of "pet wellbeing kidney support gold" when his water intake picked up. He said that shouldn't be an issue to give him. I think the bottle suggests 10 drops a day and I only have been giving him 3 a day as a preventative. Have to wait for the urine test results now.
