May 27, 2016 · Polish chickens are bred primarily as a show bird, but were originally productive egg layers. Polish rarely go broody and lay white eggs. There are bearded, non-bearded and frizzle varieties. Having a broody polish is not totally unheard of though. My hen here did a fantastic job of raising her chicks.

Nov 19, 2023 · Based on my research, Polish hens typically begin laying somewhere between 20 and 22 weeks. Here's the exact information. She laid her first egg Oct. 27th. She was 19 weeks at that point. I also want to mention that, prior to this date, she was very hormonal and very snotty. After she layed that egg, she became the sweetest hen ever!

Apr 9, 2012 · Here is a pic of one of my polish X easter egger cross pullets. I have more pics but they free range and taking pics is no easy task. The daddy was a frizzle polish 1/2 golden laced polish 1/2 tolblunt polish and had 2 easter egger hens that were white and red and white. Will post pics of the others that I have real soon.

I have ~12 Polish, and a few also have names based on their poof headed appearance -I have a Phyllis, a Sidney (after Sid Vicious), and an Ein (Albert Einstein a Splash polish roo). I also thought Cruella would work too - esp for a showgirl.

To prepare for Michigan winters, I'm preparing the coops for winter, but wonder about any problems Polish chickens might have--crests freezing etc-- in snowy, rainy weather.

Jan 4, 2009 · I have a polish hen and she's 8 months old. She started laying at the end of October and has just stopped laying. She wasn't very consistent. She layed an egg every 3-4 days. She's been sick so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with her stopping or she just stopped for winter. I'm hoping she's not eggbound. She seems to be getting better.
