Ratna Pathak Shah (born 7 August 1957) is an Indian actress and director known for her work in Hindi theatre, television, and films. Her extensive work in theatre includes a series of plays in both English and Hindi.

Ratna Pathak Shah made her acting debut in the critically acclaimed film "Mandi" (1983), directed by Shyam Benegal. Her early performances showcased her ability to embody a range of characters with ease.

Ratna first met her future husband, Naseeruddin Shah, during the shoot of a theater play titled Sambhog Se Sanyas Tak in the year 1975. Though at that time, Shah was recovering from the aftermath of a divorce, he fell for her without any second thought.
