Chicago Common bricks are often reclaimed and sent around the world. Often times, brickyards will use saws to slice the long stretcher faces off the reclaimed bricks creating multiple thin bricks out of one brick. You can spot reclaimed Chicago Common brick on many new homes, storefronts, and interiors.

Chicago Reclaimed brick are salvaged from old building and factories in the Chicago area and bring character and charm to a project in a way that only a 100 year old brick can. Pinks, yellows, reds, oranges and blacks all combine to make them world renowned and one of a kind. These thin brick are best on interior floors and walls.

These pavers have actually been reclaimed from turn-of-the-century structures that can still be found today throughout the city of Chicago. Old Chicago Reclaimed bricks are especially unique with color hues of creams and pinks with the occasional black, and many will feature the distinctive union diamond stamp on the face.

Chicago Commons have become increasingly hard to find because production of this brick was ceased in 1981 and many of the buildings that use it have been demolished. Reclaimed Chicago Commons have a distinct feel to them that can be attributed to the weathering and imperfections the brick has accumulated throughout its existence.

Identifying authentic Chicago bricks is easy when you know what to look for. These bricks looked different primarily because they were made with the grayish blue clay deposited by the last glacier. When fired, the high temperatures turned the blue clay salmon or buff colors. The resulting bricks were very durable, as well as breathable.
