Aug 6, 2009 · In order to remove the top cover of a SM465 the transmission must first be partially shifted into reverse gear. Not a really difficult transmission to go through. Quality pullers and bearing separators help a lot, as does a good press. Have fun.

Jul 18, 2010 · This results in and ugly propeller installation. I could mod the propeller to clock it, but the sm465 mount seems more stout. So if @Mopdog is still around, do you still like this mount? Has it caused any issues? Anyone else done this? Any difference in set up? For reference, I have a 350-sm465-3 speed case.

Dec 23, 2018 · I am starting an SM465 swap thread to document what I’m doing in the hopes it helps others. Also, I’ll probably have a million questions and need advice. I have a 1973 FJ40 with a SBC 350 in it attached to the Toyota 3 speed transmission and transfer case. The drivetrain is leaking bad and I have the SM465 from another project.

Apr 6, 2007 · The SM465 I had the clutch was on the driver's side, the bellhousing was much different than what you have. Looks like an SM420 to me. Super, low 1st Gear (7.05) hella strong.

Jan 23, 2003 · If you could use either t18 or sm465 which would you use. With t18 I would need to adapt to SBC bellhousing for about 280.00 from novak. For the sm465 I would need to adapt to the dana 20 488.00 from novak. This includes a new ouput shaft. T18 1st is 6.23 SM465 1st is 6.55 but being a newer trans I hope I can get one cheaper.

I have one snap ring in the input shaft (indicatedwith a blue arrow), but it doesn't seem to actually touch the bearings or constrain them in any way. Looking at Novak's diagram there should be...
