Jan 12, 2018 · You don't want to mill oak with a 48" bar on a MS661 it hasn't the power needed, beyond 42" you are pretty much in double powerhead territory with a MS 661 and then you can go big. A MS 661 and MS 362 can get around 72" bar cutting when running double head.

Apr 12, 2017 · i don't know the 461 but i am sure its a nice saw, i have a 066 and its a beast, i'm sure the 661 has even more power. they are very good saws. the 600er saws are heavy for a 8h day of use, but if you will put a 32" bar on it i would go with the bigger saw.

Mar 19, 2022 · To be fair my thoughts of the saw was probably disadvantaged because i had just sat down my ported and properly filed 395 and picked the stock 592 with a unimpressive chain on it up. 28" in hardwood i was not impressed, the power felt very similiar to stock 661 power. I got awesome stihl support here, and the husky dealers are a joke at best.

Apr 1, 2016 · My local Stihl dealer hates them, he tries to discount 461 to the loggers so they buy them instead, but 1 crew likes the power of the 661, but they have a few saws sitting at his shop everytime I stop, they just rotate them in and out, dealer says they always need reprogrammed, makes me think I will never own one unless it's really cheap.

Jan 16, 2016 · - AV on the 661 is bad ass vs 660. My wrists and elbows give me problems when I ran the 660 to much. 661 no worries. - I'd say you'd get about 20% more gas mileage with the 661. - lot of mtronics have been ported. No issues. - you can also run .404 chain on a 661 no problem. 660 even ported I don't think runs .404 as good.

Solenoid - my understanding is that one of the most common problems on the mtronics 241 261 362 441 661 has been the solenoid valve (0000 120 5110).

Jan 18, 2016 · As you can imagine, making something that is cosmetically up to the Stihl factory standard and that also flows high volumes of air is a challenge. With the help of some industry experts we are getting close and hope for June 1st availability, but this can change depending on field tests results.

Mar 1, 2023 · I know its not a 500i, the local kubota/stihl dealer didnt have the 500, only a 462. I guess i could have put the 25" bar off the 462 i purchased yesterday, on my 661 to see the wt. difference. BUT my 661 with a 36" bar vs. the 462 with the 25", there a very noticeable wt. difference and comfort, esp when cutting at stomach/chest height.
