Jun 17, 2012 · What causes us to "see stars" when we bash our heads? I also notice the same phenomenon when I stand up suddenly and feel light-headed when blood pools in my legs. This is especially confusing, since the two "stimuli" operate by different mechanisms: a blow to the head versus a brief episode of hypotension.

When you stand up very quickly, then the inertia in your body causes the blood to run out of your head and neck and upper body. Thus you see stars and some people may faint. 2) Stretching This happens to me too but I also get a headache sometimes!

If you were on the Moon, on the night-side, you'd be able to see and photograph the stars just as you can on Earth at night time, but just as on Earth, the ground would be dark.

Sep 22, 2005 · The “seeing stars” symptom you describe is similar to that sometimes experienced by people when they stand up too quickly, this is due to a temporary insufficiency of blood flow to the head. If you are experiencing this symptom when you yawn then this could be explained by the presence of a “double chin”.
