But people see how surprised Dumbledore was about it, and think that, like Tonks, Snape's Patronus changed due to love.

May 1, 2024 · Tonks and Severus having replica patronuses makes it suggest that person is their happiest memories but they aren’t necessarily soulmates. That's an interesting theory! I see the doe as a symbol of innocence or goodness. It makes sense that this is Severus's patronus, as the doe represents that secret inner part of him.

The portrait (Phineas Niegellus) overheard that they were in the Forest of Dean and travelled to the headmaster's office portrait (of Phineas) to let Snape (the then headmaster) know where they were.
