The TV has updated recently and the manual update selection answers that the TV does not need to be updated. As for updating Aquos Net applications, I'm not sure. On my Menu, Initial Setup, I have EZ Setup, Internet Setup, Language, DivX(R) Setup, Wall Mount Audio Setup, FAV APP Key Assign, and Reset.
