Feb 6, 2025 · BACKGROUND: Shedd Aquarium, a leader in animal care, welcomed a beluga calf on July 24 to 35-year-old mother, Naya. Much of what we know about beluga whale gestation and birth has come from the small handful of accredited zoos and aquariums that care for this species.

Apr 4, 2024 · Both species of penguins residing at Shedd – rockhopper and Magellanic – may be spotted building nests and pairing up over the next few weeks. The birds are provided with rocks, pieces of hose and lavender to mimic materials found in their native habitats for nest building.
