They are generally paralax free (focused) at 75 yards and offer enough eye relief so you don't have to worry about getting busted in the forehead with the scope. Shotgun scopes take a beating due to the heavy recoil, don't go cheap. I have busted Tasco's and Bushnells.

If you want to shoot the new wonder slugs out to 200...Instead of irreversably altering a versatile shotgun, simply buy another barrel with a cantilever mount.

Aug 22, 2009 · Use a large piece of cardboard for a target backstop. This way, if one slug type shoots extreme left, right, high, or low, you will still be able to determine point of impact. Do not adjust your scope again until you have shot each of the 4 slug types for group. Don't be in a hurry, and let the barrel cool between shots.

Remington 870 Cantilever scope mount or Saddle Mount
Dec 5, 2008 · Had that problem on a Winchester, but did not have that problem on the 870. The saddle mount is a big compromise, but it can work. I'd buy a standard 870 Express for about $250 with 28" field barrel and then buy one of the Remington/Cantilever barrel with scope packages for $180 and be done with it.
