Basket and stellate cells are two types of cells found in the cerebellum. They are similar in that they both originate from the cerebellar ventricular zone (CVZ) along with Purkinje cells and Bergmann glia. However, they differ in their dendritic processes. Stellate cells have short dendrites that make contact with a small number of Purkinje cell dendrites, while basket cells have extensive dendritic processes that can make contact with a much larger number of Purkinje cells.
