Korean movie set in the 17th century. A middle aged man raises his daughter in the mountains as Korea is oppressed by the Ming Empire. This movie spends the first half setting up with a lot of politics only for the inevitable most predictable thing happens. Once he finally picks up his sword, the action is okay.

South Koreans have pretty good action movies! In most cases, they are not as good or innovative as their thrillers or romances, but they are good enough to enjoy. I put here some SF/action movies (Snowpiercer, Space Sweepers, Natural City), superhero movies (Woochi) and disaster films (Flu, The Tower, Tidal Wave).

If you are into samurai and warrior's from the east and such I definitely recommend this movie, it successfully managed to combine swordsman skills with cowboy gun fights, which I never seen before. the movie is very stylish and they did a great job with the atmospheric effects.

Bichunmoo: Directed by Young-jun Kim. With Shin Hyeon-jun, Kim Hee-seon, Jung Jin-young, Jang Dong-jik. A sweeping, epic tale of a martial arts warrior who attempts to defy a kingdom to be with his love.

During filming in China, Woo-sung Jung got knee-injury while shooting one of his fight scenes and had to stay behind after the Korean crew came back to Korea.
