Thapa (pronunciation: [t̪ʰapa]) is an Indo-Aryan surname belonging to the Chhetri /Rajput caste (Kshatriya) in Nepal and parts of Northern India. [2] [3] It is also used by the Magar tribes, a Sino-Tibetan speaking ethnicity. To get the surname 'Thapa', one must have three previous generations who died in battle.
