Jan 8, 2008 · To re-inforce, either load frame inside with tubing that fits inside of current frame, or weld on "fish plating" or load dispersing panels on the outside as mentioned. Maybe do some checking around to see if someone in your area has done this sort of thing before and is willing to give you some tips and hands-on demonstration.

Oct 8, 2012 · don't know if you took the job or not but I have welded on few frames in my time with no ill effects, 7018 or mig, get the paint and dirt off might need to grind a little "v" depending on size and thickness of frame ( sounds like a small crack) but like sberry said over head and or location could be prob.Keep ears covered from the little hot balls a fire good luck

Can anyone direct me to any regulation or some formal opinion or guideline that says welding the frame is or is not acceptable. Welding/Repairing cracks on car frame
Apr 13, 2010 · Im doing some repairs on the front end of a drag car, and were I am working the frame has some cracks in it. I was always told to drill a small hole at the end of the crack to prevent it from spreading, once thats done then it can be welded. Just wondering if this is true or if anyone has any other suggestions. Anything will help. Thanks.
