Jan 18, 2009 · the protec is a wix "B" filter, same construction, same quality, only difference is the burst pressure rating is like 325psi vs 470 for the actual Wix. We sell them and they are very popular for the price as well as zero problems/no warranties with them.

Mar 11, 2012 · I talked to a guy at a Napa store awhile back in regards to oil filters. He told me the cartridge oil filters were made in either USA, Mexico, South Korea or Poland. All the spin on type oil filters were made in USA. So far I haven't seen a spin on that wasn't made in USA. Doesn't mean they don't exist but so far I haven't seen one.

Jul 8, 2020 · Fortunately (thus far), M+H has not allowed the Purolator issues to creep into the WIX/Napa lines and let's hope it stays that way. I do like other filters, but like to have alternatives and WiX/Napa has been it. I like the NAPA GOLD that fits my 4.2 V6 (#1516). It has the base end bypass which I prefer over the dome end bypass.

Feb 19, 2013 · MicroGard = Pro-Tec(wix budget line) = Napa ProSelect/Silver Wix = Napa Gold Wix XP = Napa Platinum MicroGard, Pro-Tec and Napa ProSelect/Silver use a Nitrile ADBV and cellulose media. Wix and Napa Gold use a silicone ADBV and glass enhanced cellulose media. Generally, more media also. Wix XP and Napa Platinum use silicone ADBV and synthetic media.

Jan 21, 2014 · Honeywell makes Fram, not Wix. Neht anymoure... Honewell sold Fram several years ago. The company they sold to bought Champion Labs, and now operates both under the 'Fram Filtration' umbrella. Wix is still Wix and has nothing to do with Fram. Not sure who owns them, used to be Dana but I think they've been out of the picture for a while too.

Jan 13, 2013 · Wix made them until some time in 2013, when AAP bought CQ. During the merger, Fram made them, from mid-2013 to early 2016. From around March 2016-on, they hav ebeen made by Purolator.
