Nov 30, 2014 · Apple said back at WWDC that M1 was the baseline for Apple Intelligence support. Beyond that anything is just speculation. I think that for a lot of the use cases demonstrated at WWDC and the September event it will not make a high difference in terms of M1 vs M2/3/4/etc.

Nov 17, 2020 · I am a Streamer and YouTuber, I use my 2021 M1 MacBook Pro exclusively. OBS works perfectly through Rosetta 2, however because of this it uses more resources than it would optimized and running on the M1 chip natively. On top of this most of the games I stream are also not optimized and running through Rosetta 2.

Jun 24, 2010 · Bumping this. I have the opportunity to get a used M1 MacBook Pro, still having 5 months of Apple Care, and fairly certain treated well (have to check on battery cycles), for less then a new M3 Air. I am comparing the M1 Pro, though, to a base M4 MacBook.
How long do you think the M1 MacBook Air will last?
Jul 16, 2024 · That all being said, as a tl;dr: While Intel Macs are still supported, so will Apple Silicon Macs that have a base M1. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple had one or two releases in which Intel support is entirely dropped, but all Apple Silicon Macs (from M1 all the way through M3 Max and beyond) are supported before eventually ditching M1 support.
