Chicken Manure! 💚Yesterday we picked up our chicken manure from a local farm that we get it from every year. Make sure you have your garden rake and gardening gloves handy for this job. Chicken manure, just like other animal waste, when not fully composted can contain e. coli and other pathogens that we are susceptible to and can make us sick. The composting process kills these bacteria. You will probably have to break up some poop clumps and I personally do not want to do that bare handed. 💚L

Keeping the chicken run and coop clean and smell free is a whole job. We use a “deep litter” method in our run. I add in mulch regularly and they break it down. Every few weeks I go in and pull back the top layers of mulch to get down to the composted material. So far I’ve been using the compost in my back areas of the garden. This works for us.
