James Melville "Mel" White (born June 26, 1940) is an American clergyman and author. White was a behind-the-scenes member of the Evangelical Protestant movement through the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, writing film and television specials and ghostwriting autobiographies for televangelists such as Jerry Falwell , Pat Robertson , and Billy Graham .

Mel’s symptoms from the original Parkinson’s diagnosis have progressively become worse. On June 26th, we flew to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to work with several specialists for 5 days with tests being conducted each day.

After more than three decades of counseling and “anti-gay” therapy including prayer, fasting, exorcism, and electric shock, Mel White was able to reconcile his Christian theology and his sexual orientation.
