May 13, 2016 · The Yak-9 and Yak-9U get your standard single 20mm plus machine guns, while the 9P and 9UT can mount 3x20mm and get access to the fast firing 37mm or 23mm (which is bad compared to the 20/37) in the nose. Yak-9: M-105PF engine (~1200bhp) Yak-9U: VK-107A engine (~1500bhp), aerodynamic improvements. Yak-9P: Based off the 9U with more firepower.

Apr 3, 2014 · My experience with the Yak-9U has been stellar as of the second tier upgrades. It performs with the P-51 with a worse dive but lower weight, making for much better energy retention and allowing it to out-turn the Mustang at most speeds.
