The Yak-9U became the definitive interceptor/fighter version of the Yak-9 series. The Yak-9UV was a two-seat conversion for training purposes. The subsequent Yak-9UT had a skin entirely of light alloy.

The Yak-9UT is a rank IV Soviet fighter with a battle rating of 6.0 (AB), 5.7 (RB), and 6.3 (SB). It was introduced in Update 1.37. The Yak-9UT has an extremely high acceleration rate which is enhanced compared to earlier Yaks due to using the new Klimov M-107 engine.

In the Yak-9U, the Red Air Force had a superb fighter equipping its fighter regiments with outstanding performance and handling qualities, which was considered to be nearly on par with its contemporary, the North American P-51D Mustang.

May 13, 2016 · The Yak-9 and Yak-9U get your standard single 20mm plus machine guns, while the 9P and 9UT can mount 3x20mm and get access to the fast firing 37mm or 23mm (which is bad compared to the 20/37) in the nose. Apr 3, 2014 · My experience with the Yak-9U has been stellar as of the second tier upgrades. It performs with the P-51 with a worse dive but lower weight, making for much better energy retention and allowing it to out-turn the Mustang at most speeds.
